CUSD: Tentative Agreement – Vote July 15-19
We are pleased to announce that we reached a Tentative Agreement with CUSD! By organizing with our co-workers and fighting for what we deserve, we were able to win a fair contract.
But our Tentative Agreement won’t be final until you VOTE! The election will be held online via ElectionBuddy from 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022, to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.

Highlights of the Tentative Agreement
- 7% raises retro to July 1, 2021 (all SEIU classifications)
- 6% raises effective July 1, 2022 (all SEIU classifications)
- Additional 6% reclassification raise for cafeteria workers (This is our lowest-paid group. That’s a total of a 19% pay increase for all cafeteria workers!)
- June 10, 2022 -, Juneteenth Paid Holiday (and repayment for 2021 Juneteenth)
- June 19 is now Juneteenth Holiday officially. Now an official paid holiday every year!
- $10 increase in shoe allowance ($225 to $235) for listed classifications
- $55 dollar increase in shoe allowance for cafeteria workers. (Now $110)
- In 2023/2024 – Reopener for reclassification (to look at our next lowest paid groups, Custodians, then Grounds, then Bus Drivers)
- In 2023/2024- Reopener for wages and two other non-economic items
- Pushed back hard on all of management’s attempts to degrade the seniority rights of the bus drivers.
- Bus Drivers’ are guaranteed a 7-hour minimum for school year positions and a 6-hour minimum for all summer school positions.
- Guarantee for the drivers to have a 3-days notice for any changes in their route anytime a student is added to their route.
- Drivers are now guaranteed 30 minutes for all pre-trip inspections (as required by the CHP) and 15 minutes to clean up after their AM route.
- All SEIU new hires probationary period reduced to 6 months, per ed code. And credit is given to those who served as subs prior to being hired.
- Improved language for Stewards release time so members can have representation when they request it.
- Improved the personal necessity language so that members are NOT UNREASONABLY DENIED the use of their PN leave.
- Finally got rid of the personnel committee, which allowed management to push unfair changes to our MOU or job descriptions but allowed them to brush off our serious issues with our working conditions.
