Kern County Chapter Officers Election Center
It’s time to start thinking about which of your coworkers would be great candidates to lead our union and shape the future at Kern County.
Ideal candidates ensure management hears and respects our voices and also inspires our coworkers to engage through our union to improve working conditions, wages, job security, and our rights at work.
We are asking you to consider nominating yourself or your coworkers who you believe have the qualities to improve working conditions at Kern County by serving as a Kern County Chapter union officer from November 2025 to November 2028.
The following Kern County Chapter officer positions are open for nomination and election.

How to be eligible for union officers
Each officer is elected to a term of 3 years. To be eligible for nomination and serve as an elected officer, the person must be a member in good standing in the Chapter for at least six months preceding the nomination.
You must obtain at least 5 signatures from SEIU members who have been in good standing for the previous six months. Download the nomination form here.
Election Committee
At least five (5), no more than nine (9) members can volunteer for the Election Committee to oversee procedures. Must be in good standing with our union and agree not to run for officer positions. To nominate yourself, contact your Internal Worksite Organizer or email KernChapterElections@seiu521.org before or on Monday, September 22.
Timeline of Elections
- Fri 8/29/25 — Notice of Sept 2nd General Membership Meeting and open up chapter officer nominations. Register for the meeting by visiting this link. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
- Tues. 9/2/25 at 6:00 pm. Meeting and notice of Chapter Officer Nominations open up. Register for the online meeting here https://seiu521-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/gQw-iW_tSuuwzucuQ5jatQ. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with details on how to join the meeting. Agenda: launch nomination period for Chapter officer nominations. Download the nomination form here.
- Mon. 9/8/25 — Notice of opening up of Election Committee nominees. The appointments will occur during the September Chapter Officers meeting on September 22, 2025.
- Mon. 9/22 at 6:00 pm — Kern County Chapter Officer Meeting. https://seiu521-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/NFps8Kl-QPa0Js09HRg99w. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with details on how to join the meeting. Agenda: accepting nominations and appointing the election committee

Agenda: Receive chapter officer nominations from during open floor, plus other general business items.
- Wed. 10/1/25 by 5:00 pm — Deadline for chapter officer nominations must be submitted to our Union office 1001 17th Street, Bakersfield, CA or via email kerncountyelections@seiu521.org by 5:00 pm
- Wed. 10/8/25 — Notice of Election of Kern County Chapter officer
- Mon. 10/13/25 — Voting begins for chapter officer election
- Thurs. 10/16/25 — Voting ends for chapter officer election
