Who we are
The SEIU Nurse Alliance of California (NA of CA) is a leading voice for RNs in California and is part of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the largest and fastest-growing healthcare union in California and in the nation. More than 35,000 Registered Nurses from both public and private sector health systems are part of the SEIU Nurse Alliance of California. By uniting nurses from all over California, we can speak with a collective voice to enhance patient care, save our public health systems, improve working conditions, work to ensure quality affordable and accessible healthcare, communicate more effectively with each other, and build a better future for nurses and their families.
What we’ve accomplished
- Blood Borne Pathogen Standard and safety sharps legislation
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios that we continue to improve with newly won, stronger enforcement mechanisms and whistleblower protections
- Health and Safety Standards for respiratory protections, musculoskeletal injury, and workplace violence prevention
- COVID-19 protections for PPE, sick-leave, & other safety standards
What we do
- We have a strong education program that includes a two-day annual conference in the State Capitol. Our classes are approved by the Board of Registered Nursing for Continuing Education Units.
- We lobby on legislation in Sacramento that impacts patient care, our nursing profession, and the communities that we serve.
- We work with Cal/OSHA through the regulatory process to ensure that healthcare workers across the state have a safe and healthy workplace.
- We are able to accomplish our goals by partnering with SEIU California, our nursing Locals, and various allies across the state. The power of our voices is strong when we are united.
