Tulare County: Protecting Workers Protects Residents

Now more than ever, in the midst of a pandemic, the safety of vulnerable seniors and children, depends heavily on the well-being of the workforce that is providing essential care and protection throughout the County. Devoted to service, county workers reflect the resilient community they represent as residents – these men and women deserve to be safe while battling the (novel coronavirus) COVID-19 outbreak on the front lines. Men and women across county worksites are being exposed to unsafe work settings that include a lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and a disregard for state guidelines for workplace social distancing.

These practices put the health of all Tulare County residents at risk. SEIU 521 Tulare County members have repeatedly reached out directly to County Management to address these concerns and facilitate worker-management solutions – to date, our union has been brushed off by the County and its attorneys, disregarding our ask for transparency in how they intend to protect the community and the essential employees on the frontlines who fight to protect the public they srve. Together with our families, friends and community, we are taking action to protect the health and safety of all residents.
