Protect All County Workers

Reminder – General Membership Meeting on Thursday, Dec. 3, 5 p.m.

Even though classes have been temporarily closed until January 4, 2021, the following issues have not been resolved:

  1. A comprehensive health & safety training before classes reopen
  2. Classrooms appropriately staffed with not too many or too few employees
  3. Employees need to be able to telecommute as much as possible, especially if they have school-aged children or someone at risk in their household

Please attend our General Membership Meeting tonight (Thursday, December 3, 2020) at 5 p.m. to discuss our next steps.

Save the Date! Car Caravan

Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, 8:15 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

Location and route: TBD

Why: Management has still not committed to re-open school sites safely. Also, some of our workers are being asked to return to the office or take a leave of absence.

Sign Our Petition to Urge COE to Put Safety First

In the meantime, we ask that you sign our petition asking COE to put safety first when re-opening school sites and offices:
https://www.seiu521.org/sccoesafetyfirst

The petition will not be shared with management but with the Board and the Superintendent. This is a union-protected activity to address our working conditions. This means that management cannot retaliate against us signing the petition.

Share our petition with your co-workers, friends, neighbors and family members. We need as many signatures as possible before the next School Board meeting on December 16, 2020.
