Help Us Stop the Layoffs & Protect Public Health Services

San Mateo County Chapter
Dear co-workers,
The County is at it again. San Mateo County is determined to undermine public services during a major pandemic by laying off health care workers who deliver care to our community. While we fought against service and job cuts earlier this year, the COVID-19 crisis demonstrates our need to maintain public health services.
The County received $133 million in federal money to tackle a rise in COVID-19 cases as shelter-in-place restrictions are eased, but they are adamant to cut at least 24 positions impacting 12 of our co-workers, one half laid off by June 2020 and the other by January 2021.
We will not accept the County’s irresponsible behavior that restricts health care services to San Mateo County’s most vulnerable residents in the midst of a major health pandemic. With $1.2 billion in its budget reserves, the County can easily weather this storm.
