We are proud to have stood side-by-side by each of you in our commitment toward change and an inclusive tomorrow. From a historic voter turnout to helping elect SEIU 521 members and endorsed candidates to office, this could not have happened without you. And while we wait for the results, we are looking at a path to victory across local, state, and federal races that will protect the jobs and future of our SEIU 521 members. Voting reports indicate that at least 4,865 of our members who voted in this election were first-time voters! This number will keep going up as ballots are counted…

Here are some of the VICTORY highlights so far based on early results:

  • Joe Biden & Kamala Harris – Presidential
  • Otto Lee, Santa Clara County Supervisor
  • Dave Cortese, State Senate District 15
  • Veronica Vasquez, Delano City Council, SEIU 521 Member

We have made our voices heard: we voted for healthcare, long-term care, and child care that everyone can afford. We voted to end police violence in communities of color and for investments in proven solutions to reimagine public safety. We voted to stop needless deaths and to protect frontline workers like us with protective gear, paid sick leave, and a clear, rational plan to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. We voted for action on climate change so that our children and grandchildren will have clean air and water. We voted for our immigrant neighbors to be welcome and safe in America with a path to citizenship—so one day, they can vote, too. We voted for an inclusive, resilient America. We voted for every worker to have a right to a union. That’s why we voted for Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and leaders across the state who are committed to fighting for workers and families. Essential workers like us voted and made clear our commitment to workers and families; now let’s get it done!  When we vote and fight, we WIN!

NOTE: Not all votes have been counted at this time. The following are preliminary election results as of Wednesday, November 4, at 5:35 p.m. We will be adding more results as soon as possible.
